Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Victory also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.
However the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an better serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.
The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
